Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway 1940's Weekend

The Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway 1940's Weekend was an excellent and well run event with lots of atmosphere and activity. A highlight was the attendance on Saturday of East Yorks veterans Alf Ackroyd and Dennis Peachey and members of their families. It was a real privilege to listen to Alf and Dennis' wartime experiences. On the Saturday evening there was a very enjoyable dance. On Sunday morning the East Yorks held a church parade with other groups joining in.

The event featured rest area scenarios, weapons and firepower displays and mock battles finishing off with a march past of all the re-enactors.
